Hakan Calhanoglu feels that Inter Milan “have to repeat this season” next time around after winning the Serie A title.

The Turkish international spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, after the Nerazzurri’s 1-1 Serie A draw against Lazio.

This season now has the air of “mission accomplished” for Inter.

The Nerazzurri clinched the Serie A title last month, with the derby against AC Milan proving to be the decisive match.

Ever since then, there is a bit of a sense that Inter have taken their foot off the gas.

The Nerazzurri have been celebrating the title, with this evening marking the trophy presentation.

But there won’t be much more time for the team to rest on their laurels.

There will be a shortened summer, with the Euros and the Copa America, and then there will be the start of next season in just three months’ time.

And Inter will know that things will not be easy next campaign just because of their success this time around.

Hakan Calhanoglu: “Inter Have To Repeat This Season”

“After this season, we have to repeat it,” said Calhanoglu.

“We have to take Inter as high as we possibly can,” added the former AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder. “That’s our goal.”

“We can’t give up now just because we got the second star.”

Calhanoglu said that “We have to always keep winning things. We as footballers have to just focus on the pitch, and keep bringing more trophies to this top club.”

He added that “We have to enjoy this moment.”

“Then we’ll start thinking about next season.”

And of Inter President Steven Zhang, whose future is the subject of a lot of speculation, Calhanoglu said that “We haven’t heard from him since the livestream.”

“We’re waiting for him hear,” he said of the current Nerazzurri President.
